Mixing the two energy sources allows for efficiency to be maximized because the system draws on each source based on the temperature the thermostat is set to and the outside air temperatures.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Geothermal Heat Pumps<\/strong> \u2013 These heat pumps draw their energy directly from the earth via underground pipes that are able to absorb heat naturally and direct it into the home.
